How to Play Burns at Murlani Casino

The complete guide to Murlani Burns — pick safe matchsticks to build your multiplier, avoid the burned ones, and claim before the fire reaches you.

What is Burns?

Burns is a Murlani original game built around a grid of matchsticks. Some matches are safe — pick them and your multiplier grows. Some are burned — pick one and the round ends in a loss. You can claim your profit at any point between picks, or keep going for a higher multiplier. The tension is in deciding when to stop.

Burns is the fiery cousin of Mines. Instead of hidden bombs on a grid, you have hidden burned matchsticks. The mechanic is the same — incremental multiplier growth with an ever-present risk of instant loss — but the visual experience is entirely its own.

The Grid — Three Match Counts

Before the round starts you choose how many matches are on the board. There are three options:

  • 5 matches — one row of five matchsticks. The smallest board. Burns and safe picks are tightly packed, so each pick is a high-stakes decision.
  • 10 matches — two rows of five. A mid-sized board with more room to build a multiplier before things get dangerous.
  • 15 matches — three rows of five. The largest board. The most picks possible per round, giving you the most runway to climb a multiplier before risk peaks.

The match count locks in when you start a round. You can change it freely between rounds.

Burns — How Many Are Dangerous

After choosing your match count, you set the number of burns — the burned matchsticks hidden in the grid. Burns can be set from 1 up to (matches − 1):

  • 5 matches — burns from 1 to 4.
  • 10 matches — burns from 1 to 9.
  • 15 matches — burns from 1 to 14.

More burns relative to total matches = higher multiplier per safe pick = much lower probability of surviving multiple picks. Fewer burns = smaller multiplier per pick = safer.

How a Round Works

  1. Set your bet — enter your wager in the bet input.
  2. Choose your match count — 5, 10, or 15.
  3. Set burns — choose how many of the matches are burned.
  4. Press Bet — the board activates, but the burned positions are hidden.
  5. Click a match — a safe pick lights up green and your multiplier rises. A burned pick shows fire and the round is lost.
  6. Claim any time — after at least one safe pick, the Claim button is available. Clicking it locks in your current payout and ends the round.
  7. Keep picking — each safe pick increases the multiplier further. The more you push, the higher the reward and the lower the remaining safe ratio.

When the round ends (by claim or by hitting a burned match), all hidden burned positions are revealed with a smoke animation so you can see where the danger was.

Pick Random

During a live round in Manual mode, a Pick Random button is available. It selects a random match from the remaining unpicked positions. Useful if you want to keep moving without deciding exactly which match to tap — the odds are the same regardless of which individual match you choose.

Manual vs Auto-Bet

Manual Mode

You control every pick. Bet, click a match, decide to claim or keep going. Use this when you want to feel each decision — especially on small boards where the tension of each click is high.

Auto-Bet Mode

Switch the mode selector to Auto. Before starting, you select which specific matches you want the auto-bet to pick each round. The grid becomes a selection interface — tap the matches you want targeted, then press Start AutoBet.

Every round, the auto-bet will reveal your pre-selected matches in sequence and automatically collect the result. You can set a specific number of rounds or leave it infinite. The match selection you made stays active across rounds so you don't have to re-select each time.

Note: in Auto mode you can only pre-select up to (matches − burns) positions — the maximum number of safe matches that could exist on the board.

Strategy — Setting Up Burns

Safe Runner — 15 matches, 1–2 burns

With 15 matches and only 1 burn, your odds of surviving any single pick are very high (14-in-15 ≈ 93% on the first pick). Multipliers grow slowly, but you can chain many picks before risk becomes meaningful. Ideal for long sessions with steady, modest gains.

Balanced — 10 matches, 3–4 burns

A mix of meaningful multiplier growth and tolerable risk per pick. Good for manual play where you want to feel the tension without burning through your bankroll rapidly.

High Variance — 5 matches, 3–4 burns

With 5 matches and 4 burns, only one safe match exists on the entire board. The multiplier for finding it is enormous, but you have a 4-in-5 (80%) chance of hitting a burned match on your very first pick. Best with tiny stakes and treated as a high-risk punt.

Auto-Bet Grind — 15 matches, 2 burns, pre-select 3–5 positions

Set 2 burns on a 15-match board, pre-select 3–4 matches for auto-bet, and run many rounds. The survival rate per round is high, the multiplier per round is modest, and the auto-bet keeps the volume moving without any manual input.

Tips for Playing Burns Well

  • Decide your target before you bet — "I will claim after 3 safe picks" is a rule you can stick to. "One more" is how you hit a burned match.
  • Match count and burns together determine risk — a 10-match board with 5 burns is the same ratio as a 5-match board with 2–3 burns; think in percentages.
  • Use Pick Random freely — there is no hot or cold match on the board. Every unpicked position is equally likely to be safe or burned.
  • Auto-Bet is a commitment — the pre-selected matches play out fully each round. Make sure your burn count and match selection are set the way you want before starting.
  • Small boards punish greed harder — on a 5-match board you run out of safe picks fast. On a 15-match board you have more room to make mistakes in pick timing.

Provably Fair at Murlani

Every Burns round is provably fair. The positions of the burned matches are determined by a hashed server seed committed before the round and a client seed you control. After the round resolves you can verify that the burned positions came from the published seeds and could not have been moved mid-round.

Burns FAQ

Can I change the match count or burns while a round is active?

No. Both lock when you press Bet. You can change them freely between rounds.

What happens to the burned matches I didn't pick?

When the round ends, all burned positions are revealed with a smoke animation so you can see exactly where they were.

Is there a minimum number of picks before I can claim?

You need at least one successful safe pick before the Claim button activates. You cannot claim on a fresh board with no picks made.

Can I use Pick Random in Auto-Bet mode?

Pick Random is a manual-mode feature. In Auto mode you pre-select your positions before the round starts, and the auto-bet hits those specific matches each round.

Does which match I click matter?

No. Every unpicked match has the same probability of being burned based on the current board state. There is no pattern — pick wherever you like.
