What is Kings Gambit?

Kings Gambit is a Murlani original card-picking game. Each round three cards are placed face-down in front of you. Two are safe — revealing them increases your multiplier. One is the King of Spades — revealing it ends the round immediately with a loss.

You pick cards one at a time. After safely revealing both non-King cards in a round, the game automatically advances to the next round with a fresh set of three cards and a reshuffled King position. You can claim your accumulated payout at any time between picks, or push on for more rounds to compound the multiplier further.

The Three Cards per Round

Every round starts with exactly three face-down cards:

• Two safe cards — Any standard playing card (not the King of Spades). Revealing one adds to your multiplier and lets you continue.
• One King of Spades — The danger card. Pick it and the round is over — your bet is lost.

The King of Spades is reshuffled into a new position between every round, so the previous round's King position gives no information about the current one.

How the Odds Work Per Round

On each pick within a round, the probability of hitting the King of Spades changes based on how many cards remain:

• First pick — 1 King among 3 cards: 1-in-3 chance of losing (~33%)
• Second pick — If the first was safe, 1 King among 2 remaining cards: 1-in-2 chance of losing (50%)
• Auto-advance — After both safe cards are revealed, the King is the only card left. The game automatically moves to the next round — you never have to pick the last card.

Up to 7 Rounds

A full King's Gambit run lasts up to 7 rounds. Each round you survive builds the multiplier further. A progress indicator at the bottom of the board shows your current round and how many you have completed. Completing all 7 rounds is the maximum possible outcome.

How a Full Round Works

1. Set your bet — enter your wager in the bet input.
2. Press Bet — the board activates with 3 face-down cards; round 1 begins.
3. Click a card — it flips to reveal what it is.
4. Safe pick — multiplier rises, you can claim now or pick again.
5. King of Spades — round ends immediately, bet is lost.
6. Both safe cards revealed — round automatically advances to round 2 with fresh cards.
7. Claim any time — press Claim after any successful pick to collect your current payout and end the run.
8. Continue to round 7 — or stop whenever the multiplier looks right.

Pick Random

During an active round, a Pick Random button is available. It selects a random face-down card from the remaining options. Since the King position is random and each card has an equal chance of being safe or the King, Pick Random carries the exact same odds as any deliberate choice.

Resuming an In-Progress Game

Kings Gambit saves your game state. If you close the browser mid-round and return, your current cards, multiplier, and round number are all restored. You can pick up exactly where you left off and claim or continue normally.

Strategy — When to Claim

Claim After Round 1, Second Safe Card

You have survived a 2-in-3 and then a 1-in-2 pick. That is a 1-in-3 cumulative chance to reach this point. If the payout looks good, claiming here is a reasonable exit — round 2 resets the risk back to 2-in-3 for the first pick.

Push to Round 3–4 for a Meaningful Multiplier

The multiplier compounds quickly across rounds. Running 3 full rounds while claiming before the second pick of round 4 is a common target for balanced players. The multiplier at this point is typically significant while the accumulated risk is still manageable.

Full Run — All 7 Rounds

Completing all 7 rounds is extremely rare given the cumulative probability. The multiplier at that point is very large. If you are going for it, use the smallest stake you are comfortable losing — most attempts will fail before round 5.

Tips for Playing Kings Gambit Well

• Set a target round before you start — decide in advance which round you will claim at, and stick to it. The flip animation and rising multiplier make it easy to keep going past a sensible exit.
• The second pick in every round is a coin flip — once you have safely revealed one card in a round, only one safe and one King remain. That is 50/50. Know this before you click.
• The King position changes every round — there is no pattern or memory between rounds. Avoiding the King on round 2 gives no information about round 3.
